Naked Horsehair Raku

·Description: Made with Naked Raku process then pit fired with horsehair. The piece is fired at 1250 degrees and then glazed. At high temperatures they are swung around to establish the crackle.  The glaze pops off the piece after it is placed in water at around 600 degrees, and you are left with Naked clay. Each piece is placed in a trash can filled with sawdust igniting the carbon produced by the burning sawdust, it gets trapped in all the cracks and spots where there isn't glaze.

· Care: Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth. To protect finish, avoid the use of chemicals or household cleaners. Hardware may loosen over time. Periodically check to make sure all connections are tight.
