In June of 2012 I left Portland, OR indefinitely to continue what would end up becoming roughly 5 years of extensive travel throughout the United States. Traveling with and without the band, I found myself in Miami's Little Havana in January, off the grid in Fairbanks, AK in September, and 47 other states in between...most of them 3 or 4 times. Although I was constantly moving, I stopped for extended stays in New London, CT, Brooklyn, NY, Westerly, RI, and Los Angeles, CA. But, my true home became a green vegetable-oil powered van outfitted with modest car-camping luxuries, and a stereo that just barely competed with the roar of the diesel engine.
"A Short Strange Trip; Interpretations of California and the American West" is a book of illustrations, paintings and photographs inspired by those travels.
